Group TSMT® Therapy

Group Planned Sensory-Motor Training® (TSMT® II) therapy is recommended for children from 18 months to 12 years of age who have one or more of the following symptoms:
  • Speech development disorder or impairment
  • Movement developmental instability, stuttering, clumsy movement control
  • Inattention, concentration problems in the following areas:
    • Short-term memory, short-term working memory
    • Simultaneous multichannel attention
    • Remembering the order of tasks
    • Independent working
  • Learning disorders, learning disabilities (dyscalculia, dyslexia, dysgraphia)
    • Difficulty with spatial orientation
  • Uncertainty of right-left discrimination
  • Poor synchronous functions
  • Behavioral problems:
    • Anxiety, self-doubt
    • Weak control functions, mild hyperactivity
    • Acceptance of peer situations, cooperation with peers
  • Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD)
Group TSMT® therapy is recommended for children who score between 50-75% in Neurodevelopmental Maturity and Motor Maturity during the Longitudinal Complex Examination but perform below 75% in the Attention domain. It is important that children participating in group therapy are cooperative and can work independently or with minimal assistance in groups of 4-8. Spectacular results can be achieved with children who are unstable, hyperactive, not yet school-ready, or insecure in their movements, and whose attention functions need improvement.

How does TSMT® II therapy work?

Therapy takes place in a gymnasium environment, in a stimulus-rich setting, typically without parents - except for baby groups and groups of severely delayed children who can be integrated into a group. Each group consists of 4-8 children, homogeneous and at the same level of proficiency, and is therefore suitable for learning personalised training. The therapist conducts the exercises in a pre-furnished room, according to specific training elements. The exercises used promote the development of high-movement processing of a specific period of action, improved attention control, sensorimotor synchrony, improvement of praxis, body patterning, spatial orientation, laterality, dominance, the development of seriality, rhythm sense and motor creativity, simultaneous multichannel attention, and the integration of the so-called primitive/infant reflex profile. These skills and abilities are an essential foundation for success in school.

How long does TSMT® II therapy last?

TSMT II® therapy is 45-90 minutes per session, 2-3 times per week. Training sessions usually follow the school year, so it is best to enrol your child from September to June for spectacular results. The training sessions are twice weekly and the weighting of the tasks varies from session to session. A follow-up test is recommended at the end of the year after the training sessions for group therapy, the results of which will indicate whether the child is recommended for further therapy in an advanced group or whether other developmental activities or sports can be substituted for the TSMT II® sessions.
