Group TSMT® Therapy

Group Planned Sensorimotor Training® (TSMT II®) therapy is recommended for children from 18 months to 12 years of age who have one or more of the following symptoms:
  • Speech development disorder or impairment
  • Speech development disorder or impairment
  • Inattention, concentration problem in the following areas:
    • Short-term memory, short-term working memory
    • Simultaneous multichannel attention
    • Note the order of tasks
    • Working independently
  • Learning disorders, learning disability (dyscalculia, dyslexia, dysgraphia)
    • Orientation in space is difficult
  • Uncertainty of right-left discrimination
  • Weakness of synchronous functions
  • Behavioural problems:
    • Anxiety, lack of self-confidence
    • Weak control functions, mild hyperactivity
    • Acceptance of peer situations, cooperation with peers
  • Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD)
Group TSMT® therapy is recommended for children who score in the 50-75% range on the Longitudinal Complex Examination in the Neurological Maturity and Motor Maturity domains, but below 75% in the Cognitive Domains, Attention domain. It is important that children participating in group gymnastics are cooperative and able to work independently or with little help in groups of 4-8. Spectacular results can be achieved with children who are unstable, hyperactive, school-age, or insecure in their movement and whose attention functions need to be improved.

How does TSMT II® therapy work?

Therapy takes place in a gym environment, in a stimulus-rich environment, typically without parents - except for baby groups and groups for severely delayed children who can be integrated into the group. Each group consists of 4-8 children, homogeneous and at the same level of proficiency, and is therefore suitable for learning personalised training. The therapist conducts the exercises in a pre-furnished room, according to specific training elements. The exercises used promote the development of high-movement processing of a specific period of action, improved attention control, sensorimotor synchrony, improvement of praxis, body patterning, spatial orientation, laterality, dominance, the development of seriality, rhythm sense and motor creativity, simultaneous multichannel attention, and the integration of the so-called primitive/infant reflex profile. These skills and abilities are an essential foundation for success in school.

How long does TSMT II® therapy last?

TSMT II® therapy lasts 45-90 minutes per session, 2-3 times per week. The training sessions usually follow the school year, so it is best to enrol your child from September to June for spectacular results. The training sessions are twice weekly and the weighting of the tasks varies from session to session. A follow-up test is recommended at the end of the year after the training sessions for group therapy, to see if the child is recommended for further therapy in an advanced group or if other developmental activities or sports can be substituted for the TSMT II® sessions.
